iPod repair?

DH has a fancy iPod that does the videos, 80 gigs, and it has quit working.  And it's past warranty.  The call center is telling him it'd cost at least $179 to send it in and get it fixed -- I have NO idea what he paid for it and probably don't want to know.

Anyone know of a good place to take it -- pref in the Springfield-Joplin corridor -- to see if it can be fixed / is worth it to get it fixed -- which won't charge $50 just to give an opinion and can do the work if it's worth it?

Call Data Base in Springfield. They are the local Apple people. They might be willing to give you an estimate over the phone. (I think it will cost $75 for the to look at it.)

Of course! Keep Database in mind though if there are any other problems. They are fairly nice and locally owned.
