iPod repair?

zianurayDH has a fancy iPod that does the videos, 80 gigs, and it has quit working. And it's past warranty. The call center is telling him it'd cost at least $179 to send it in and get it fixed -- I have NO idea what he paid for it and probably don't want to know.
Anyone know of a good place to take it -- pref in the Springfield-Joplin corridor -- to see if it can be fixed / is worth it to get it fixed -- which won't charge $50 just to give an opinion and can do the work if it's worth it?
