zianuray: ('Weenie hat!)

Yeah, it's early.  Posting this gives me a chance to get other people to put theirs up so I can get started!

Instructions:

Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Whatever -- Birthday, Halloween, Yule, Arbor Day -- is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not — it's your call.

I'd like to add:  if you're reading this, and decide to play, please comment below so there's a better chance I (and maybe a few others) will see your wishes!

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1)  A picture of me that I like -- this will require someone with a lot of patience,
a sense of humor, and a decent camera, because there have been exactly two pictures
of me in 45+ years that I can look at without feeling ill.

*Still don't have that one.

2)  Ideas for flavor combos for some chocolate melts I'm turning into candies to the office at Halloween -- the melts I'm using are (mostly) Wilton brand and come in dark cocoa, light cocoa, peanut butter and vanilla -- most in vanilla, so whatever flavor is added would have to work with that.

3)  amazon wishlist.
or, heck, pack up a bunch of books you don't want and send 'em on!

4) Funky "icky" Halloween-type labels for bottles and boxes and such -- free downloads are great! -- or labels you've designed, if you don't mind me using them.  Things like "Zombie Juice" and "Bat's Whiskers".

5) Notebooks, blank books, mini-Moleskines

6)  Beads and / or bead supplies -- old necklaces / earrings etc from thrift shops that I can take apart and use for parts are the BOMB!
(This includes one cool bead leftover from a package of 5, a busted earring, whatever you don't feel like using but don't want to throw out.  Beadwise, that is -- no livestock like children or spouses!)

7)  I'm so thankful for my job at Wyndham -- but if you know anyone with a salon or spa, DC office, etc. in the Springfield, MO area who would let me do one day a week to keep my hands in at massage, I'd appreciate you telling me about them and/or them about me!

8)  So many of my friends are having health/job problems -- please remember them in your devotions if you are so inclined.

Hmm, that brings it to 8.  Do I HAVE to have 10?

Most of what I want this year is stuff that only I can do for myself -- like motivation to get UP and get moving and exercise, get UP and do the housework that I know needs doing, stuff like that.  *sigh*

I guess the one wish I have that others can take care of is this:

Y'all be kind, courteous, and considerate of each other, hear?

House List

Nov. 14th, 2010 06:58 pm
zianuray: (Default)
Things I want when/if we move:

2 bathrooms (this is a minimum -- will cheerfully accept 2.5 or more)
laundry area on main floor
all living areas on one floor, ground level or very close to it
pantry /storage area in kitchen -- reachable
big-enough kitchen with counter space and more than one electrical outlet
on-demand water heater
wiring such that we can run the microwave, two computers, and the TV without tripping the breakers.  BTW, they're on three different circuits.  (Em already fixed this problem -- but still!)
basement or at least root cellar -- this is the midwest, after all!
closets -- at least one in each bedroom, a linen closet, and one for coats/etc in the living area

Hopefully at least some solar capability.

IF we get a duplex to have one side for my massage business, the kitchen on that side will be a "lab" pretty dang fast, and may even be a "certified kitchen" so I can sell product more easily.  If so, the local crafters will likely find me quickly!
(Right now, if I sell my soaps, etc. at a farmer's market, they have to be labeled "Not made in a certified kitchen nor by a certified cook" even though they're not edible b/c they're to be used "on the body.")

4)  amazon wishlist.

Here's what I asked for last year, and the changes for tis year: )

NOT an ISO, just a reminiscence~

Does anyone else remember these?  The bottle was shaped like this but with a black plastic cap.  Would have been, oh, during the 70's; the scents were stuff like Leaves of Grass,  Fresh-mown Hay,  other single-notes mostly IIRC.

I used to get them at K-mart in Bellefontaine Neighbors (St. Louis County).

They were in 1/3  1/6? 1/4? oz (back before metric was being used here in the States!) bottles, very low prices but actually smelled darn good!

(I know it's beyond hope that they're still making them, but just knowing someone else remembered them would be good.)

X-posted to EE

(which obviously isn't me)

E-book reader.

screen that doesn't hurt to read.

can take e-books from my laptop, put it on a usb thing, and load that into the reader.

adjustable font size (i.e., can make the "print" bigger/smaller)

Can use e-books from various sources -- the "Kindle", fr'instance, can only "do" kindle books....at least that's the way it looks to me....

Does anything currently fit all this?

Oh wow....where to start?

1)  A picture of me that I like -- this will require someone with a lot of patience,

of me in 45+ years that I can look at without feeling ill.

2)  A Dolphin II  (a specific sort of massage chair)  :D  (NOT bloody likely, they're over $500!)

3)  A bottle of Crowley (BPAL) Used, partial, empty....or, really, anything off my bpal wishlist.  or amazon
or, heck, pack up a bunch of books you don't want and send 'em on!

4)  FifthHouse to take off and keep me busy when I'm not in class
(which is also gonna require me to load some freaking pictures, but there ya go!)

5)  BonneBell Lipsmackers

6)  Everyday Minerals eyeshadows -- esp if there are any matte-finish ones!

7)  Help designing brochures/logos for Fifth House (OR later for my massage business)!

8) Scrapbooky-type tags and stickers (esp alphabets!) or herbal-looking stamps (Lavender plants, Basil leaves, etc)

9) Notebooks, blank books, funky pens.....

10)  Beads and / or bead supplies -- old necklaces / earrings etc from thrift shops that I can take apart and use the parts are the BOMB!
