Migraines

My teacher told us about this -- I don't know how well-known/(un)proven it may be...it worked for one of our classmates who got migraines a lot before that.

If your migraines generally start on the left side of your head, try a zinc supplement. If the right, try iron.
If they start at the back and travel forward, it's more like to be tension, so go see your massage therapist!

(And stay hydrated -- which everyone knows and many forget.)

And if they start at the back of your neck.. they are cervico-genic migraines, and are combinations, They're difficult to treat and are not fun to have, a combination of Magnesium, Zinc and Massage works wonders. So sayeth the Massage therapist.

I'd read that before but haven't tried yet. I could have used the zinc yesterday!

What if it alternates from side to side?

Go see a TCM practitioner. There's an imbalance somewhere and they are all about correcting imbalances.

A what-now? Are they expensive? I haven't any insurance, and not much money.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner. Ask at the office of a chiropractor who does acupuncture -- though acupuncture may help also. The certifications are different than for a western MD, and may vary by state. Probably would'n't be covered by insurance anyhow, though they are usually willing to work with you on payments -- and if they have kids, may do partial barter for tutoring or somesuch.

Ahh. My Chiro in Boulder used to do that stuff, and never had any suggestions. She would just put my spine straight and make 'em go away.

Hey Girl! I have suffered from migraines since the ripe old age of 13. I finally went to a migraine specialist and this is what he had me do. I works very very well. 250 mg magnesium per day combined with 200 mg of Vit B complex. It is very important to find a complex that has equal amounts of each of the B's as they work in tandem to each other. This should be taken daily as well. If migrain does occur take an additional 500 mg magnesium with plenty of fluids. It would be best to take the Magnesium with calcium as it helps in the absorption I also found out that when you go to the hospital for migraines the iv they give you is actually a magnesium drip.

I'm going to have to collect all the responses I get to posts like this and print them out for my notebooks.

Did you get the link to the poison labels?

I can print them in color for you if you like.

that makes so much sense, actually... and inspired me to start taking my iron again!
