Followup and more news--
Aug. 20th, 2005 09:15 pmWell, Aunt Jane is gonna have to go to a hearing PLUS she'll have to take a driving test. The cops took her keys away and told Cook to hide them :D
This time? Well, see, Friday I'm headed up out of the GopherHole to go to work, and there's a cop by the porch talking with Cook. There's also two road-crew trucks and two workers in their bright orange t-shirts at the edge of the road/yard. Jane had gone to the Salon, and on the way back she apparently sideswiped a dozer at approx 50 mph (in a 35 zone......). The passenger-side mirror is GONE, and there's a gash 2" high and 11" long THROUGH the sheet metal of the door. You can see the scratch all the way back to where it trails off at the trunk.
If the dozer's operater hadn't launched himself up over the machine, he'd be roadkill.
This is according to the road crew, of course.
She didn't stop; the road crew followed her to the house.
Jane says "how could she have hit anything? She doesn't remember hitting anything.
She has no idea what they're talking about."
IF Jane didn't hit anything, can she explain where her mirror is and how the door got ripped, and why the road crew found it advisable to jump in their trucks, abandoning the work site, and follow her to the house while calling 9-1-1 on the cell phones?
So Cook calls Carol, Jane's daughter....Carol says "Oh, I can't get there. YOU take care of it."
Uh, you want hired help, who is supposed to cook and clean for MOM, not for aunt Jane, to take care of the legal shit here? hel-LO????????????????????
She ain't driving no more, what you wanna bet?
from Jul 15
ALSO, subsequent to the little "car/pedestrian" incident a few weeks ago, Jane promised her daughter Carol that she'd ONLY drive to her apartment two blocks down the road for her daily smoke break. Apparently the beauty shop is not part of this restriction, though it is several blocks farther in a different direction.
