Had a coupon for B&N and a gift card as well, so picked up Scarpetta. 

Not gonna say it was a waste of the money, precisely, but ... still a little heavy on the stuff that doesn't tie in,  Not even loose ends, just...edges.

A lot of authors I start off liking seem to go to the dogs after about the third book in a series -- sometimes after the second.  I have to wonder why that happens -- do they start writing for sales rather than to tell a story, and therefore write when there IS no story?

Examples:   Patricia Cornwell, MR Sellars...it took Mercedes Lackey longer than that, but each of the series I've read of hers has gone south.

And OMG don't get me started on Laurell K. Hamilton.

Found some of my embroidery supplies in the garage while I was digging out tultema 's and greeneyedtengu 's holiday decorations -- and Tema, I did find Pokey and he is just by the computer waiting.  He'll have his own box with company and airholes on the trip, 'k?
