Dogs I've known have fallen into two camps - the "OMG how smart!" and the "OMG how stupid!" It's always better to have the smart kind ;) She may think her bone is "currency" for trade, and therefore won't play with it, only bringing it to you when she wants something you have. Dogs will invent complex social interactions, and assign specific tasks to certain toys. My daughter's puppy brings me one particular toy to play tug-of-war with, even if she has been using a different one up until that minute. It's sort of "our" toy, and although he'll use it with everyone else, he'll never bring me any other toy.
