Everyone here knows the 7th HP book is being released Saturday, right?  And no-one is suprised that I have pre-ordered a copy.  Now Saturday, being two days after a strange man gets frisky with my innards and a buncha sharp things, I may not feel like making a 45-minute drive to Sprungberg to pick UP said book, right?  with me here?

So I call the store where i have the order.  Here's my side of the convo:

Yes, I need to find out how long you can hold a book for me.  

No, it's THAT book, the hyped one.  Right.  

No, I can't make it in Saturday, I'm having surgery Thursday and it's almost an hour's drive....

JUST the weekend.  It gets thrown to the sharks on Sunday evening.  

Right, let me speak to your manager.  

OH, you ARE the manager.  That's fine, let me speak to YOUR boss.  

Really.  OK, you have my number, she can call me tomorrow.  

Oh?  You think I'll have no trouble getting a copy?  You think there'll be plenty to go around?  So....why can't you hold one of those plenty of books for me until I can drive an hour one way and stand in line?

 

 

End Rant.  Of course, DH is quite willing to go in and pick it up for me, but still!!

I can't believe the manager would talk to you that way! On Saturday you should be able to buy the book in ANY store. Bookstores, grocery stores, card shops, and quite possible convenience stores! Plus, I'm fairly sure every bookstore has totally overordered it as well. I don't think you'll have much problem getting your paws on a copy.

Cool! Did you enjoy it?

I'm getting this one and reading it during recovery, then the Hubby reads it, then the daughters get to read it, and handing it over to them is probably the last time I'll see this copy.
