I'm on a hardwire connection at the HoJo in Ocala -- I can get LJ (obviously) and Neopets and most other websites I've tried, but gmail and Yahoo mail aren't loading.
Are you typing in the 'www.' in front of the names or just shortcutting it? If their nameserver is lame or has an odd proxy setup, it may not be doing the translation correctly.
It is also possible that they have some sort of net-nanny software in place (to placate nervous parents), one that blocks access to specified locations. I know that Yahoo still gets locked out by some older packages because of a previous black-hole listing; that was a problem in Japan when I was there the first time.
