Sep. 17th, 2003 05:14 pmMelting wax to make container candles for barter this weekend @ the Pagan Pride Day Picnic...got the daughter drafted to "bust wax" which means taking a hammer and screwdriver to ten-pound chunks of paraffin and turning them into fist-sized chunks which will fit into the melt/pour pot!
Scents requested: FLORALS. I know, flowers are cool, flowers are nice....but i don't like them as candles! (or room freshener, etc.) Well, i have a pound of Magnolia, a chunk of gardenia, an ounce or so of rose and lilac...if it'll get me cash or pretties, i can deal with it for a day or two.
Oh--y'all know those little round Altoid tins, from the Sours? Great size for travel candles, or to go in baskets. :D
I recycle a _lot_ of stuff!
Also trying out some incense blanks--will let you know how it goes!
Eldar isn't driving up tonight--and didn't LAST night either--because of certain "familial obligations." Which i know about, and yes, i know he has to take care of the situation. Kinda miss him, though. Just a little bit. (OK, more than a little bit. Happy, Llama-Linda?)
Got a call from the flea market today, looks like business at the booth isn't picking up as predicted. Supposedly, last year "it'll pick up when it gets cold, candles sell real well when it's cold and the windows are closed...." Then "Mother's Day...." Then "when the students get back...."
So i think i'm gonna let the booth go. Not worth $30/month to watch it collect dust.
Suggestions on what to do with the current stock?
