Yanno, there's an LJcomm I think I'm gonna excuse myself from until it starts being consistent.
For a clue, if you recognize the stuff in the icon here....
I wish there were a way to "unwatch" a comm w/o leaving it!

Date: 2008-03-17 03:02 am (UTC)Wait, there is a way to unwatch. Let me figure it out and I'll be right back.
Edit: moonminx is totally right on one way, but I voiced my personal paranoia at that method. Here's the FAQ advice http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=179&q=remove

Date: 2008-03-17 03:30 am (UTC)It's normal for a person to take a comm off their flist so these comments confused me-
Unless one of the mods decides to do spring cleaning and unfriend those who aren't "friends of" and "watching" the community.
... but I voiced my personal paranoia at that method
which is why I thought after seeing those comments that it was a small comm where the mod can see who took the comm of their flist. (I'm confusing myself, I think;))

Date: 2008-03-17 03:33 am (UTC)Anyone can see who is watching versus who is friended versus who is both. A mod can easily compare though, and unfriend as easily as we can unfriend people from our journals. the difference is with our journals, if the posts are flocked, the unfriended people won't be able to see them. I rarely flock posts in communities.
So yeah, it is possible for a mid to "clean up" the flist of the community, no matter what the size.
As far as what is friended, watching, joined, and all of the above - I'm a little confused myself on that hence the linking to the FAQ
:)
