52-hour week, actually; i'll get paid for that one on thurs, 1 apr.

someone had told me that your shift premium doesn't get multiplied like your hourly wage does for overtime....guess what? they're wrong!

the sleep schedue is a lot better for me, but the first shift lead has been to interfering with how the second shift is run---and it's really none of her business. she (referred to hereafter as A, for "type A") got the area manager (P) to tell my lead (B) that i had to run a certain machine. period. can't run a different machine, can't scope, can't help where needed as had been...and back on the feet for 8 hours a day, on concrete. Both feet, rt Achilles' Tendon, and rt knee rather unhappy. 'Course, this would have been the case had i remained on first....A just takes a dislike to certain people.

And B is irritated that A has to try to run BOTH whifts now.

So i took out 2 hours early fri, to get it on the record that "that hurts."
And making a dr's appointment this week--don't know if he'll hand me a chit for "no more than 4 hours standing" which is what i'm after, send me elsewhere, or tell me to hush and do it.

i KNOW i need to exercise. and it's really difficult to convince myself that it will be good to go out and walk when my feet feel like they've been pulverized from the night before and it is painful just to walk to the freaking bathroom!

a couple of people who know the dynamics between A and me have asked why i haven't hexed her yet. a few have SUGGESTED methods!

OK, can a free account do a poll? how? 'cause i have one in mind...

***just checked the FAQ--nope, no poll. Oh well!***

Actually, they may be right. I was just asking my husband [livejournal.com profile] lord_keeper about this, and he said that many places figure your overtime on your base hourly pay, minus the shift differential. So if you make $10.00/hour and have a 20% (for sake of easy figuring, I don't know what normal is) shift differential, you would be making $12.00/hour for your normal 40, then for the additional 12 hours, you would be paid $15.00/hour. He said it's very rare for companies to figure she shift differential in for the sake of overtime, and there's nothing illegal in it.

So i'm lucky :)

i did the math on my check this week and it is as i recalled from shift work at this plant before--the diff. gets multiplied also.

but then, this place has decent bennies too, being a pretty good size.

i'd offer to email and tell you where it is, but i don't think you'd be wanting too much to relocate to the Mozarks--if i'm wrong here, tell me!--and anyhow, we're hiring only through temp agencies right now.

That's an unfortunate trend, only hiring through the temp agencies to avoid giving out the benefits. [livejournal.com profile] lord_keeper is working at the Epson warehouse here through Norrell Services. They don't hire til there's a position open, and then they take applications and do interviews. First dibs on the positions go to the Epson employees though, temps are next in line, and rarely if ever they do they hire from the outside. There's one guy there that has been there going on three years and he just got hired on as a permanent Epson employee.
