Not a curtain, a half wall: covers the sight of the table, but leaves the top open to breezes... or even a screen, anchored in place, with the bottom foot open a stretch of cloth or willow fencing or such in the middle and more open space up top.
It would also give the patron a slight sense of privacy, which could make it more comfortable for them...
