Thor's Day
Aug. 28th, 2003 05:42 pmAnd not much to talk about at the moment....stream-of-conciousness may change that, though.
Linda's off to DragonCon and i wish i were too, but i did War of the Lilies and that took my play-budget and vacation time this year. Next year, several of us are planning to hit Atlanta for DC. But have mercy, we GOTTA find more reasonable rates for lodging than the party-hotels!
Oh, and on the subject of "lodging...."
Crawled out of bed this morning and headed for the kitchen (caffine fix)...and there was a person on the couch who was NOT here when i went to bed slightly after 2200.....i really must have a Talk with the daughter about letting me know when people are gonna be crashing here so i can throw on a t-shirt or some such before embarassing "guests." Of course, this individual is NOT on my good side right now ANYhow, and i considered waking the entire apartment block screaming my head off in "shock and fear" then throwing him out with barely time to grab the car keys, much less his pants.
I generally listen to KTTS-FM for news (on the hour, so it's easy), and they were really off kilter on this Mars approach. The news center announced that Mars would appear "almost the size of the Moon!" at perigee. "Big/close enough to make out the ice-caps without a telescope!" Uh-huh. Bright star-size, faintly red, but not nearly what they were talking. Wasn't expecting Moon-sized, but a little bigger than it was would have been real nice. Not too many complaints, though; it's been fun watching it each morning as i go in to work!
