work schedules
Aug. 16th, 2003 06:33 pmWell, volunteered to work extra hours Thursday--meaning i got up at 0300 to clock in by 0430. Was INFORMED that the same WILL be done Friday (yesterday) and Monday, Tuesday... - TFN. Turned out the second shift had been told that they could work over "if they felt like it, when they wanted to."
Anyone care to guess how that went over with FIRST shift, we who regularly wax their tails on production with fewer people? [one day--just one--first put out 1247 pieces in 8 hours; second did 396 with the same number of people and the same amount of time, AND left us 500 pieces to start the next day with. can you spell "slackers"? i knew you could!]
On a slightly lighter note, while this wreaks havoc with my sleep patterns, i won't have to worry about the car payment for a couple of months!
Oh--also, we've been informed that there will be a(nother) layoff sometime in September. This time, they're allowing volunteers--others will be decided after that. NO, i do NOT plan to volunteer, though i did visit the local "career center" and send off a few applications to cover my "assets." Just in case.
