So I got a Dell 1100 laptop back in August....haven't had any trouble with it, except that i don't always know how to do what i WANT to do on it.....UNTIL:

A few days ago--just over a week, i believe--the little update prompt says there is an update called "SP 2"
and it will supossedly fix several holes and such on the toy.  (frickin' MSW anyhow....shoulda done Linux.  Can always change it.)

so like a good little clone-sumer, i hit the gimmee button......BIG effin' mistake.  Took nearly an hour at Library WiFi speed (broadband) to download.....then the restart took a good 6 minutes before i had a menu......then several programs wouldn't work.....and it wouldn't let me access several websites, something about a protocol it said.......

SO i sent MS an SOS.  Supposed to be a 24-hour-or-less response, right?  All together now:  "RIGHT!  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

Never did hear from their non-response team.

Every time i'd power up, it'd take 4-6 minutes--objective--to boot up.

Went in to the "add/remove programs" bit and SP 2 didn't show upat all.  had some smaller patches--"hotfixes"--but that was it.  Checked three different days.

So Wednesday i got ANOTHER message from the update thingy--"Some People are having trouble from the SP2."

YA THINK????

THIS time, SP 2 showed up in the manager--so i promptly UNinstalled it.  Took ANOTHER hour.  THEN took 38 minutes for the poor lil' toy to finish reloading its drivers and locating parts of itself!  Must have been one MAJOR hangover.

And the very next update message--not two minutes after getting back online--tells me i need to install the SP 2 service pack????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Like I want to do THAT again?
