Ok, Movie/TV Buffs.....
Aug. 18th, 2007 10:15 pmLooking for:
Late 70's. Late-night. Movie on TV.
Cloning, organ transplants, organ farming, consciousness, self-awareness.....
name of movie: SOMA
I think.
No, it's not the anime that IMDB hands me.
Any ideas?
ETA: Some bits of The Resurrection of Zachary Wheeler are familiar...I mainly remember one 45-second clip. That HAS been in this one, but...might just be very similar to something else. They use the term Soma and make the point that it is the Greek word for "body," which is something else I recall. But I'm certain I saw the word SOMA as the title screen! Maybe it got re-named either for TV or later for something else?

Laughing too hard.
Watching Penn&Teller Bullshit! This was the NewAge bit -- and it is hilarious!
Also I learned a LOT on the recycling bit -- did you know it takes more energy/resources and money to recycle than not?
Exception: aluminum cans.
They do their homework, that's certain, and present their points well. I'm liking this show!

Respect and TV shows
Nov. 25th, 2006 12:34 amI'm "watching" TLC's What Not To Wear (as in, it's on and I'm in the same room).
This has been on about 3 times now while I was in the area. And the way they talk to these women...!!!!!!
Example: "A lot of designers are now calling straight-leg jeans boot-cut. All those you were looking at the label and saying 'boot-cut' and putting back? That's the jeans you should have been getting!"
The chickie says "Oh, I'm sorry!"
Yeah, that's the first thing anyone would think of -- "Oh, before I go out there, are the clothing manufacturers calling 'straight-leg' jeans 'boot-cut' this season?" And they didn't tell her how to see if the jeans fit their criteria -- is the hem the same width as the knee? If so, it's straight-leg -- until they were already chastising her for not having information they withheld.
Me?
"You knew this. You knew -- or suspected -- that I didn't know. If you're going to withhold information, do NOT try to put me down for not knowing WHAT YOU'RE HERE TO TELL ME AND DIDN'T!"
I'm thinking...if I were one of their projects, and they spoke to ME like they do the ones I've seen....they'd kick me off right now. They'd take the freaking card back and make me walk home.
The very FIRST time they snarked at me...."You are NOT to speak to me in that manner again. I realize that you think it is cute and funny, but I find it extremely disrespectful. You will apologise now, and you will treat me -- and address me -- with the respect you want to receive. Got that?"
If you think I wouldn't, you don't know me. Ask my kids.
And I bet when they got their gaping pie-holes closed, I'd be edited to be the total bitch they tried SO hard to help but who was just TOOO hopeless and mean.
Aside from that, $5k to spend on clothes would be cool. I'd have to hide my work clothes though so I'd have something to wear to the factory!

Alphabet soup is taking over my life.
Mar. 4th, 2006 01:38 pmNot only are we working 58-hour weeks, but my mornings are being eaten by Jerry Bruckheimer. CSI, NCIS, Numb3rs, Close to Home....these get taped while I'm at work. Then I get to watch them in the mornings and on my rare day off (when I should be doing something else). No complaints, I mean, I CHOOSE to watch them...but wy do they have to be so much FUN!?!?!?
