Non-rhetorical Question
Aug. 26th, 2007 12:25 amIf someone says on a radio ad "This is Doctor FirstName LastName, Head of Private Mental Hospital for Children," what would you suppose the person's degree to be in?
He has a PhD in Education. (E.D.?) (snerk)
I know this for a fact, being a friend of the family (whom the ex-wife and the kids got in the divorce :D ) and was around while he was finishing his dissertation and celebrated with them on the news that it had been accepted.
I asked because several people in the area had the impression that he must be either a psychiatrist or a psychologist, and I agreed that the phrasing of the ad was misleading.

Date: 2007-09-04 05:07 pm (UTC)I'm not shocked, surprised, nor do I find it terribly misleading, personally - I have a friend working on her Masters in Education, and the classes are very very strong on psychology and child behavior and development. I can't even imagine what the PhD requirements for that are - but knowing what I know of the Masters program, I'd trust my child with someone with those qualifications, if I liked them and their methods of help.
