OK, just got confirmation that it IS allowed to do on-site at faires, farmers' markets, etc!  And yes, I'm printing that out to keep with at such events, being paranoid.

NOW...do I want to do on-site at White Hart or vend the candles as usual?

Julie, you said I had one of the shelters set back for me -- I'm thinking there may be room for both in there.

Does anyone want to sign up for a day selling candles and such in trade for a) getting in and b) a backrub and c)  merch?

(Hmmm, that might be good for the younger set -- 10 and up -- who would at that time have been helping with such things anyway!  Anyone have kids participating that might like to take an hour's turn?)

Is OKRF

Well, something to think about anyhow -- I just decided I'd like to visit at least one Zoo in each state eventually.  Anyone here know of any states that do NOT have Zoos?  This website has n/a for several, but I don't know how current that is....and it doesn't mention Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, which I'm pretty sure exists 'cause I remember going there.

I know the Indianapolis Zoo used to have a dolphin show; I'd suppose they still do, & I'd like to see it again. Jason and I sat close enough to get splashed!  It was raining anyhow, so big deal, a little more water :D

And I nearly grew up in the StLouis Zoo -- NO COMMENTS, Jeff!!!!!!!  Oh, heck, say it -- don't want you to hurt yourself.  And I know, there's about 6 ways to take THAT.

Hey, how about this -- once a year, go to a different state for a day at a Zoo, then go to a local RenFaire that weekend!  And better yet if someone from LJ lives there who can go with us and put up with my blathering  :D

This site has more/other Zoos!

Looks like Alexander James is accepting bookings for late August --

but most of you already knew this, I'm sure.

Why the frilly heck (thanks [profile] greeneyedtengu for the euphimism) am I always the last to know anything?

We plan to go to at least one weekend of Muskogee's RenFaire again -- but wish to find different lodging.

See, we're picky, PITA folks about some things --

We expect that whatever plumbing is provided with the room should actually WORK
We expect a non-smoking room to, y'know, not smell like an overflowing ashtray (Seriously, my eyes started swelling as I walked in.  No, Febreeze doesn't help--it makes matters WORSE.  And I shouldn't have to provide my own Febreeze if it did -- shouldn't NEED it!)
We expect the room to not have MILDEW on the wallsEEW.

We'd LIKE a room with reasonable rates (under $85/night, since we'd be there two nights), near "real food" (Steakhouse or Italian rather than MickeyD), and easy to find the site from.

I know that's a low rate, but hey, there's folks on here who know that town outsidewards and backup.  And I'm willing to go up a bit if needed.

Any suggestions?

Yoohoo has been not delivering email to me from just one certain friend (the one case i KNOW of, at least)....found this out when we were on the phone other day. Anyone else who hasn't been getting a response, that is most likely why!

Also, i had typed in an update here two days ago--but it didn't load b/c the site was updating or some such. HEY PPL who run the site.......how about a warning BEFORE i hit "update," huh? Is that a "paid member" feature, or does everyone take their chances? Of course, when i paged back, my browser hadn't kept it, so i couldn't even save it to disk.

Didn't get as many pix at RenFaire as i had been hoping, and looks like i won't be getting to return this season due to sudden overtime at work. One of the few things i did buy there was a ring i will be attempting to take a pic of and use as "my" pic for this site--Celtic interweaving on the sides....but where the weaving went onto the face of the ring on all the others at the booth, this one became a star! ONLY one they had, didn't KNOW they had it, didn't remember ever seeing it, and it fit me perfectly. That was just MY RING. No discussion. I've worn it ever since.

We (Eldar and i) also picked up our Handfasting rings at the same booth.

Wore a green t-tunic, ankle length, over a muslin chemise, a sun hat, sandals, and carried a basket; also a strand each of turquoise and of amber. Yes, the cell phone was in the basket--didn't use it all day, except as a watch!

SO went back to work a day early (had Freya's day & Moon-day scheduled off) and find out--we no longer have a supervisor! Our lead reports directly to the department manager now. We like this one--he gives the lead the day's schedule and goes away unless we call him for something! WONDERful when they'll stay out of our hair and let us get the job DONE!

Also, we're pretty well working 6 days a week for the next couple of months. Rough on the social life, esp since Eldar lives 45 minutes away, but will help with the payments on the Saturn :D

Also, will be nice to have a little extra for the Pagan Pride Day Picnic on the 20th...one of my favorite vendors will be there. www.ozarkrockexchange.com if you want to see what she has; also lots of info on rocks, crystals, etc.

Anyhoo, we got to the motel and then to the site without getting turned around or lost (in KC even--be impressed!) though there was a bit of kerfluffle with the roadwork going on along 71. The sections where it was down to one lane each direction? Well, someone apparently didn't quite get the concept. Or three someones.

And the motel--very convenient to the site, about 5 miles away--not fancy, but i've had no complaints the times i've stayed there. Until this time. The room above us was apparently rented to a horde of uncoordinated elephants taking tap-dancing lessons at 0230 Saturn's Day.

(Actually turned out to be a fight amongst a bunch of drunks.)

ETA: KCRF and American Motel.

*Whew*

The "rest" of the layoff hit yesterday. We lost one person off our crew plus our department manager. I still have my job.

That aside---getting ready to go to RenFaire! Think instead of the "fancy" stuff i'll do a simple t-tunic, the belt Eldar just made for me, and a sun-hat and sandals. Yes, we'll be taking pictures of what-all's going on and i'll post the best ones (and a link so's y'all can find them) this coming week.

WHY am i so determined to go THIS week, even though it's Coronation for the Kingdom of Calontir? Veils of Silk! Middle-Eastern theme this time! That's the one weekend i TRY to go each year.
