This is what has been happening with the fancy-bits of yarn people have sent me.
Purple fuzzy inset:

Teal w/ overlays (not sure what else to call it -- laid the contrast yarn against the base and used them as one):

Purple w/ crow beads (OK, not fancy-bits, just beads I've had around for awhile):
If I start doing more with the beads, I'll be getting a bag of plastic pony beads 'cause the crow beads are glass and could break in a dryer.
The purple in the first and third pics are the SAME yarn -- the lighting threw it off that bad.
