The State of the Zia = Randomness
Sep. 2nd, 2008 04:52 pmBack from D*C -- guys, found my keys, right where i forgot I put them! Is fun roadtripping with other Ren/skiffy geeks.
Tireder than I should be, and been starving (and eating!) all day.
Got my provisional in the post today!!! w00t!
Picked up a buncha flyers for stuff that will be Yule/etc gifts.
Ask
alaskan_blue about the room -- and stand back!
Wondering if
dixiewitch got the package I sent or if the PO ate it.
Had some nice visit w/
jeffs_page :)
BPAL M&S was fun!
featherynscale was there, and
triadruid, and trailertrashprincess, and
danceswthcobras, and people I liked meeting and should have written down names and taken pictures.
Sold/swapped bottles and imps (of course).
And someone who promised to paypal me as soon as she got home did so, and I need to send her the card that goes with her Inez as soon as I find an envelope. And she's gorgeous. And her hubby smells wonderful (Blood Garden; of course it MUST be an LE *sigh*).
The power has gone out twice since noon, thanks hurricane whomever!

Ever notice
Dec. 31st, 2007 10:19 amthat the more a hotel/motel/lodging costs, the more "additional fees" and the fewer amenities you get?
Mariott Maquis in Atlanta, GA -- minimum $150/night. Local phone calls, min. $1 each. Internet access -- $20/day in-room line; $10 PER LOGON WiFi. Fridge by prior arrangement, $10/night fee, "subject to availability"; no microwave. Parking $20/day.
Knight's Inn / King's Inn (various places) -- $50 night maybe. Generally $40. Dorm fridge and nuker in room. Free local calls. Free parking on a well-lighted lot. Usually no internet (unless you have a dial-up account -- in which case, that 800 number is a free call.)
Day's Inn -- $50-69/night. Most had a fridge. Local calls free (well, included.) WiFi / DSL included. Some had a nuker.
And the rooms are (heh) roomier at the Knight's Inn and better yet at the Day's Inn.
Sheesh. You do NOT get what you pay for in lodging.
I know, the Maquis is a big business/convention place, with bellhops and valet parking and overpriced cafes and grills that are closed when you're most hungry and roomservice food sucks.

Just over an inch of rain Friday, then 2 5/8 " yesterday according to the froggy (rain gauge). Better than it has been.....but oh we still need more!
Have the day off (part of my vacation) and called to see what's going on, as I COULD go in if they need me. Shirley's supposed to be back today, though, so that'll still be 4 people, and if last week was close to this week, well, "need" isn't the case. So yeah, some cleaning up and some packing at a leisurely pace.
Dragon candles are as made as they're gonna get. Since we don't know yet if we'll have a table in the bazaar, I didn't panic and have only about 2 doz. with me, as well as some painted pendants and some soaps (also dragon-shaped).
Right now the temp is under 85 F so I've got the AC turned off and the windows open.
Wonder if I should take some dream pillows for sale, or some magical oils....

Got some brownie points coming at work -- the Lead's birthday is Sunday and she's been invited to the lake for the weekend...BUT my vacation starts Saturday and we don't have enough people to cover if we're BOTH gone. SO..."Hey, tell Boss I'll cover for ya if we have to work. And ask if I can come in Monday and save a day for later, please?"
The likelihood of working this weekend is very slight -- so OF COURSE we'll get scheduled! (Actually, I think we'll be off. It's a bit slow just now.)
This looks good and doesn't cost me much, if anything, b/c if we work the weekend I'll take Monday and Tuesday for prep and final packing before leaving for DragonCon noonish Wednesday. If i get the prep done over the weekend, I'll go in Monday and MAYBE Tuesday to save vacation time for later.
Yay DragonCon!

August already?
Jan. 15th, 2006 12:13 pmToday I paid my membership for Dragon Con 2006, and reserved a room at the Marriott which is one of the host hotels. Since I'll be in the artist room, it'll come off the "Schedule C" for 2006. Which is a good thing, 'cause I won't get to do a lot of the concerts and stuff being nailed down like that!
One thing I do plan on is having my dragons in all their colors there for sale, but mostly not having any gilding/highlights/etc on them yet--but "I can do that right now, and you can pick him up in an hour or so when he's had time to dry. Just leave the adoption fee and your name."
Heh.
Yes, I plan to take the laptop, and I have a better camera this time also. So there.
